Here they are - a motley collection of individuals known as
Poole Kite Fliers
| On the left is old-timer Harry Douglas
Specialist in Indian fighter kites & sub-miniature On the right is one of his favourite kite drawings (I wonder why...) |
|
| Here are Bill & Kate Barker, Bill with his Kaos and Kate with her new Area 51.
On the right is young Mike Barker with one of his Matrix collection - RESPECT! He is one of the fastest guys I know, when it comes to learning new tricks and has taught me a thing or two! |
|
| Richard Nourse (AKA Dicky) - PKF + webmaster
Why would anyone want this ugly mug on TV? Video clip 357KB Specialist in nothing, but loves flying 2-liners to music. (currently trying to master a 4-liner) The fat furry kite-bear (also named Dicky) was a birthday present from my wife, who understands these things. |
|
| Roy Menage has a great teddy-dropping kit and once flew from USA to drop teddies for us the very same day - thanks Roy!
Here he is at Poole Picnic 2002 Roy also makes whopping great Firecrest 4-line power kites for buggying. |
|
| Nicolas Wadsworth (the "Professor")
He makes exotica from teeny-weeny micro-kites weighing under one hundredth of a gram (that fly perfectly) to a classic Bell tetrahedral, a beautiful Cody and tumbling boxes! Lightweight construction is his speciality. If you are interested in advanced aerodynamic theory and the attendant mathematics, Nicolas is your man! (deep respect) Seen here at Brighton 2002 Kite Festival |
|
| Barb and Eddie, with their PKF banner, one of their NINE Jack Russells, and one of Eddie's ENORMOUS single liners
showing one of his OTHER interests! He holds the club record for "the longest tail" at 180 feet... WOW! |
|
| This is Joy - who brightens up our club evenings with the unashamed love she shows to all comers |
| How many sweet tempered, one-eyed Jack Russells do you know, with honorary membership of a kite club? |
| John & Jean Higgins are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet.
Here they are at Southsea '99 festival with 2 of their REAL Joel Scholtz kites. |
|
| Dave Best has gone power crazy!
Here he is at Baiter in a strong breeze with friends Sam Fry & Hanna |
|
| Tim Henley is fairly new to kiting (August 2002) He says:- As a family we have 4 kites, a small sledge kite, a calypso delta, a Flexfoil Erazor and a 1.5mtr Ozone Little Devil.

Ray Bethell is Big Daddy!
A very special bloke. He and 'Old Harry' go back a looong way. Serious Respect (and a big hug) |
| This is Hayley (Kites Up) who gets ALL the blame for my extremely SILLY kite trousers! (as seen on TV)
I think she was trying to tempt me to get something a little brighter! This is Roy, (her other half) who makes 'sensible' kites like this wonderful award-winning 'Totem Pole' And here is the rather nice banner they made for PKF |
