Hello Kitefliers, Welcome to our 2010 News Page
Our first Poole Kite Picnic of the year on Sunday 16th May was a rather damp affair, we adjourned to the cafe for breakfast at 10am.
We gave up at around lunchtime but returned the following Sunday for an impromptu Kite Picnic and had a much better day.
The Poole Kite Picnic on Sunday 4th July was a very blustery affair with winds of around 30 mph, this was good for the wind surfers but a bit too much for us! By the time we finished we had suffered two damaged kites plus a broken line which resulted in a chase down the road and a trip up a telegraph pole to retrieve a runaway kite.
We will also have Poole Kite Picnics on Sunday 8th August and on Sunday 10th October for One Sky, One World.
All Kitefliers are welcome to join us from 10am at Hamworthy Park in Poole for these informal flying days.
2009
The Poole Kite Picnic held on Sunday 17th May was a washout, some stalwarts turned out but adjourned to the cafe before going home.
Sunday 28th June was a much better day, a full compliment of Poole Kite Fliers attended! It was good to see Richard back on the flying field.
The wind was up and down and we had a few showers but we all had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
The Poole Kite Picnic held on Sunday 2nd August was a lovely sunny day with varying winds and was thoroughly enjoyed by us all.
The Poole Kite Picnic held on Sunday 11th October for "One Sky One World" was a cool but bright day which started off fairly still. The wind improved as the day went on to give us good flying weather. By the end of the day 120 kites had been flown by a total of 19 flyers (adults and children).
We enjoyed the day so much that we had another Kite Picnic on the following Sunday (18th October).
